    • Reopening of Student Visa Applications:
      As of July 31, 2022, Immigration New Zealand reopened applications for student and visitor visas, allowing international students to submit their visa applications.
    • Increased Living Cost Requirements:
      From July 31, 2022, the required annual living expenses for international students in language courses and higher education institutions were raised to NZD 20,000. For primary and secondary school students, the requirement was increased to NZD 17,000.
  • Educational Institutions Updates
    • Unified Tuition Fees for Polytechnics:
      Effective July 1, 2023, tuition fees for New Zealand’s 16 public polytechnic institutions have been standardized, as announced by the national management body, Te Pūkenga.

 

  • Chinese Ministry of Education’s Certification Policy:
    Since 2023, the Chinese Ministry of Education no longer certifies degrees and diplomas obtained through cross-border distance learning. Students planning to acquire New Zealand qualifications online should be aware of this policy change.

 

  • Other Important Information
    • Increase in New Zealand Visa Fees:
      From October 1, 2024, New Zealand visa fees have risen, with the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) increasing from NZD 35 to NZD 100. Students planning to apply for visas should consider this additional cost.
    • Work Policy for International Students:
      New Zealand law allows international students to work legally and provides comprehensive labor rights protection. Students can work up to 20 hours per week during their studies and full-time during holidays.
